The Islanders Track and Field Club, located in Charlottetown, is dedicated to providing a safe and interactive environment for athletes to experience Track and Field. Our event-specific coaching and training programs prepare athletes for success. We believe in bringing out the best in our athletes by encouraging them to explore new possibilities and break through barriers to reach their goals. At Islanders, we believe that every young athlete can have success in track and field. We believe in providing positive opportunities for all athletes to participate and succeed. Our training focuses on developing great athletes, not just runners, through age-appropriate workouts. We also promote a healthy lifestyle for our athletes, coaches, and volunteers. As athletes grow, we adapt our programs to meet their developmental needs. We follow proper training protocols recognized by Athletics Canada's Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD), which maximizes trainability at vital stages. While we shift our focus towards training and competition, we always prioritize fun as an important measure of success. Our program focuses on proper periodization, ownership over training, goal setting, weight training, a fun and interactive environment, Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD), race strategy, confidence building, and athlete-focused workouts.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Welcome to the team!
